Evidence of Success

The Kari Powell Group was able to successfully win another multiple offer situation for this sweet family.  Brittany and Josh fell in love with their new home in Murfreesboro and knew it was where they wanted to put down roots. These first time home buyers trusted the Kari Powell Group to make their dream a reality.  After learning of multiple offers the team went to work educating Brittany and Josh and putting together a strong offer (with a little help from an adorable cover letter) and within minutes of the deadline learned that we had an accepted offer. Brittany and Josh are loving their new home and preparing the nursery for their sweet baby girl due in October.

Home Tip

Where did the summer go?

While you are wrapping up your vacations and packing your kid’s backpacks with school supplies, don’t forget to clean out and hose off your outdoor garbage bins! You read that right. Garbage bin maintenance isn’t the first thing you think of when it comes to proactive home care but if you don’t want pesky animals and rodents moving in with you this season, you will want to heed this tip. As you know, vermin (especially mice) have an innate sense of smell and as the summer heat dwindles, they tend to seek shelter and populate in convenient spaces. Cleaning out your outdoor dumpsters and removing any temptations can ensure these unwanted house guests will steer clear from your property and your home.

U.S Mortgage Rates on the Rise

U.S. mortgage rates rose again week, yet remain historically low, according to Freddie Mac.

The average 30-year fixed mortgage averaged 3.48 percent for the week ending July 28, up from 3.45 percent the previous week.

A year ago, mortgage rates stood at 3.98 percent.

The low rate levels should further propel U.S. home sales

“The 10-year Treasury yield remained flat this week in anticipation of the Fed’s July policy meeting,” said Sean Becketti, chief economist at Freddie Mac. “Mortgage rates, on the other hand, rose another 3 basis points to 3.48 percent. Nonetheless, home sales continue to benefit from the persistently low mortgage rates with June’s new home sales coming in at an annualized rate of 592,000 homes — its fastest pace since 2008.”

The historic low for 30-year rates was 3.31 percent in November 2012.

Motivational

We’ve all heard it before – “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. Throughout my own life I’ve learned to prioritize and break down a problem one piece at a time. When you are facing an obstacle that seems mountainous, take a moment to put it into perspective and remember that although you can’t always make a problem smaller, you can make yourself bigger. You build yourself up by learning and letting life’s lessons make you stronger. So, no matter what your’e facing today, be kind to yourself; give yourself a break. You work hard and when you do the work, the rewards will come. You will be stronger for it!

Celebrity Real Estate

If you’re any kind of Star Trek fan, now is your chance to tour (or own) a part of history…

“A Malibu estate owned by “Star Trek” star Brent Spiner has come up for sale with an asking price of almost $11 million. Beloved to Trekkies as Lieutenant Commander Data in the cult favorite TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” along with a handful of subsequent “Star Trek” movies, Spiner acquired the 1.61-acre Point Dume spread in 2003 for $4.6 million. A gated, palm tree-lined drive cuts through the lushly landscaped estate to a casually comfortable two-story Spanish-style residence of just over 5,000 square feet, per listing details, with three bedrooms and two full and three half bathrooms” – Said Variety.
